I’ll be honest, I’m really not feeling the blogging today but I figure I’ll share my disappointing attempt at 12.2.
SNATCHES! They are pretty much the most awkward lift out there, for me at least. It’s odd and uncomfortable… oh wait that’s me. For real though, this is not an easy lift. There’s so much to think about and it all happens so fast.
I walked into the BOOM BOX with very little excitement. 😦 I am not prepared to KILL this WOD at all.
Let’s break it down. It’s 10 min of Snatches. For the ladies its 30 reps @45lbs, 30 reps @75lbs, 30 reps @100lbs and then max reps @120lbs. I don’t think I’ve snatched over 55lbs so pretty much I’m out. I took my time and knocked out the 30 reps with just the bar. I loaded up the bar with 2 – 15lb plates and HOLY SHITAKES it was heavy. I can clean and jerk the weight but going straight to overhead is no joke. I couldn’t do it. I spent the remaining 7 minutes weakly attempting it but it was a no go. I sucked. I’m hard on myself and that’s just the way it is I suppose. I wish I had at least got freaking got 1 rep. Ah well. I jokingly said at the box that I’m dedicating my life to snatches. We giggled and then I realize I really do need to get this lift mastered. It’s always going to be there. So I better get on it.
From Burpees, which anyone can do, to SNATCHES which clearly I can not do… the CrossFit Games Open will keep us on our toes. Now we just gotta wait for next weeks announcement of 12.3 – MUs, HSPUs and running? It might as well be that after 12.2. Ha.
ON a different note, I did roll out on the TriggerPoint GRID foam roller and it is NICE. It’s hard for me to explain how great it felt. It has “zones” which have different patterns, textures, etc. so that you can really pinpoint your trouble areas. I have only used it twice now. But I did feel better recovered after my second use. I spent more time working out all my leg issues and it seemed to benefit better than a regular foam roller.
That’s all I got. I’m just not chatty today. Hopefully Friday starts looking up. I could use a little cheer right about now.
Ditto to all of the above. Sherry told me to not beat myself up…I am trying. UGH! I just wanted that 31 REALLY bad. I had high hopes for today…totally dashed. Yes, I think some quality time with Mr. Snatch is in order. Hope your day is better girl!
Hehe, yes lots of quality time needed!
Don’t get down on yourself. I think this workout was designed to space out the field. The second set nearly doubled the weight for both men and women, which is a big jump! Deadlifts might be the only move where we add that much weight from one set to the next. Try to remember how great you did on the first 30 reps. Maybe is wasn’t that long ago you wouldn’t have even been able to do those, right?
Ya it’s all true. It’s still hard to not feel defeated. I realize I have a long ways to go and lots of training is to be had but I just want to do GOOD… no GREAT at everything. I’m impatient 😛
I haven’t done snatches since foundations class. So 12.2 should be very interesting tonight!
Ya I haven’t worked on snatches much either. Definitely showed me I need to. Let me know how it goes for you 🙂
I made it through 45# & 75# without too much trouble & with 1:30 left. But I couldn’t get the 100# up. At all. Maybe if I had some technique….
That’s awesome to get through that far. 100lbs is not an easy task and on top of already going through 60 reps! Fantastic Job!!!!
I am pretty pumped to hear how your 24 day challenge goes. A close friend of mine who is now a personal trainer is an advocare sales person and he’s constantly trying to get me on the bandwagon. I feel like I don’t know how well I’d benefit because I already eat clean and train hard, so keep us posted as to how it goes, because if it makes you feel better and work out harder, I’m totally game!
Yes I will let you know. I think for sure a cleanse would just help get the “extra” junk that eating clean can’t completely get out. But in general I’ve been taking the supplements and I feel they benefit me. I take Catalyst, it’s an amino supplement. Helps you to absorb protein better and better helps you to keep your muscles rather than burn through them in your workouts. I also take a few other things that I feel benefit me. I don’t want to bore you with details but I’ll share more if you’re really interested (and no it’s not a ploy to force advocare down your throat, haha). Just let me know. From my standpoint I jumped in with advocare and working out all at once, so I can’t gauge if I would have done just as well with all the stuff I was taking or not. I just know it all came together for me.
