It’s Friday People!

Finally after a few days of draggin at the box I was finally feeling close to my old self. I wasn’t dreading going in this morning even though it was soooo cold and I was better prepared to just do work.

Skill/Strength: Overhead Squat
It was mostly a warm up for the MetCon that was waiting for us. It’s been a while since I’ve done any OHS and over time I’ve learned to get comfortable with this movement. This morning my comfort level dropped as I added weight. It didn’t help that my forearms were tight from the KB Snatch yesterday and it really didn’t help that the BAR was F(uh)RRRREEEZZZIIIINNNNGGGG!

12/21/12 WOD

12/21/12 WOD

MetCon: 10 minute AMRAP: 60 Bar Facing Burpees, 30 OHS, 10 MU
This makes me laugh cause SERIOUSLY I’m not even getting 1 ROUND of that insanity! Although it is totally doable. Now the RX was 90lbs which is my 1RM. In my weak state I thought I might get to 75lbs but stayed at 65lbs to be safe. And that was a good idea. I wasn’t all that composed after doing the 60 burpees and I struggled at 65lbs. Overall I felt I paced my burpees out well. I had 4 minutes left for OHS and for me RING ROWS instead of Muscle Ups. I thought I got this. I can make it through 1 round at least! OHS got me today folks. I couldn’t find a rhythm, I never found my happy place and I struggled. I fought for 20 reps before time ran out. Not too down this morning though, I kept steady on the burpees which is not typicaly for me. Typical for me is do 15 and stand around or lie on the ground pausing for too long, wasting time! Today I just chug a lugged along. There is hope for us all. I get back on track and y’all don’t have to read about me being a big girl baby day in and day out!

Have a Happy Friday! If you’re like me, you procrastinate on anything Christmas. Good luck on your last minute shopping! If I’m not around to blog on Monday or Tuesday then I want to wish you all a MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! Hug your loved ones, be silly, play outside and be merry!!! Thank you all again for stickin around on a regular basis! I give you all a big ol “virtual” hug! Or a high five if you’re not the hugging type ツ Have a great weekend and BE AWESOME!!!

I might be the Walking Dead

Or I felt like it this morning. I was running on little sleep, no energy and some tight/sore/fatigued muscles. There was this running thought that I couldn’t leave Andrea (Boom Box Buddy) hanging. And because of her, not me, I rolled out of bed with every ache and pain screaming at me to go back to bed! In the end the WORKOUT always wins and I always feel better so it’s not a bad thing. I just wish I could be more chipper at 4:30 in the A.M.

Skill/Strength: Kettlebell Split Lunges 3 x 10 Working UP to As Heavy As Possible. If you recall I was just recently introduced to the Split Lunge and it really hits your gluteus maximus so I’m scared for what tomorrow brings. This time around it wasn’t AS difficult because we had weight in our hand vs. weight on our shoulders but it still wasn’t easy!

Kettle Bell Split Squat – Wish this was me but it is not :/

I picked up the 1/2 Pood KBs and mentally said these are heavy. They aren’t really but I still opted to start out with 15lb dumbbells. Woooo a whole 3lbs lighter. I’m dumb sometimes. But it was an easier transition to the awkward KBs which I completed just fine. It was time for our 3rd set and I jumped up to 1 POOD (35lbs) in each hand and that was a shocker! They got heavy fast and my grip was hurting. I did 5 on each leg before I wussed out and went back to the 1/2 pood to finish it out. I was struggling BAD!

9/25/12 WOD

MetCon: 5 rounds of 12 Inch Worms in Place, 3 Deadlift (140lbs), 6 Bar Facing Burpees. It’s been a joke in our BOX about having a WOD with Inch Worms because for some reason INCH WORMS are disliked by a majority of the folks. I however don’t mind them really. Maybe because I have short limbs. I really don’t know for certain, but they don’t bother me so much. So it was kind of funny when I saw that this movement was in the WOD. I will say they are a pain in the ass after you’ve done about 40 or so! RX for the Deadlift was 185 (my 1RM) and Coach T(ravis) suggested 140lbs so I went with that. Besides letting burpees get into my head for rounds 3 and 4, this WOD was kind of good. At least I felt good in the IT HURTS REALLY BAD BUT I DID ALL KINDS OF WORK sense of things. And like I said I was dragging. I felt super WEAK the whole morning. I was sweating more than usual and could feel the fatigue in every inch of my body. I fought through and finished at 10:36.

So happy tomorrow is a REST DAY! I need it!!! I hope you all get in some good rest days as well. I’ve learned the HARD WAY, you must schedule some R&R or your body will quit on you! And you will lose in the end. When I say R&R I mean Rest and RECOVERY. You gotta moblilize and still move but not at an intense speed. Give some love to your muscles and joints! See you on Thursday unless something awesome and magical happens that I need to report on mañana! BEEEE AAWWEESSOOOMMEE!

Caution: Thrusters + Burpees May Cause Death

Holy Guacamole! (yummm guacamole!) Todays MetCon about killed me today. I think maybe on another day when I could BREATHE then possibly I could have done better?!? I seriously couldn’t catch my breath all morning long. It sucked and pissed me off and I was on the verge of needing the puke bucket. As always I pushed through but my PUSH wasn’t that great today. This was an AMRAP ladder for 7 minutes. 2 Thrusters (65lbs), 2 Bar Facing Burpees, 4 Thursters, 4 BFB, 6 Thrusters, 6 BFB, etc. I got through 8 of each and then 5 Thrusters. This was no bueno. I was hoping for more but it was NOT happening today!

5/10/12 WOD

On a more positive note. I think I ran my fastest 400m run today. That was part of our skill/strength this morning. The 400m run and working on Hand Stand Push Ups. I know this is NOT LIGHTNING FAST but my run was 1:53. I can’t find the FAST BUTTON on anything over 200m so I’m okay with this number for now. We had the option to run it again to best our time but I was the bad student who chose not to run again. HI I’m Stephanie, I hate running!

We moved on to HSPUs. I’ve progressed in this movement a little bit which is good! And I finally learned to KIP these bad boys. Although we are to only use kipping when we fail at strict HSPUs. That’s fine by me because at least now I’m confident in the kip. Before I wasn’t giving enough UMPH upwards. Today I figured it out! Woohooo!

DAY 10 Sugar Detox
And she’s still truckin boys and girls. Besides me rambling on randomly about treats and sweets I’m doing great. Everything seems to be clicking. Coach asked what changes/benefits I’ve noticed and I really didn’t have an answer. Is that bad? I mean I’m sure there are some changes but I haven’t really paid attention. I feel fine and I know I can live without sugar. Great right? I hope! I wasn’t having many problems besides my regular aches and pains. Those are still there. I’m just hoping that by the end of this thing I won’t be CRAVING the sugary goodness. Yesterday BROWNIES were waved in front of my face and although my brain lit up I know my tastebuds weren’t feeling it. That’s a good sign. Just keep swimming, just keep swimming… hehehe. That’s all I can do! 11 Days to GO!

Enjoy your day today. Happy Thursday!
