So I follow some blogs, not a lot cause it’s hard for me. I’m pressed for time and I only wish I could follow everyone who has a great story. Hell I barely get a decent blog out on my own. So those of you I follow, it’s cause y’all rock and I’m only supposed to pick 5 so here goes it.

It’s an UNTITLED Tuesday!

I think I’ve completely run out of creative juices today and more so lately than ever. So I have nothing exciting to give you by way of a CATCHY Headline.

I was very proactive last night in my cooking and got 2 meatloaves made. One for eating right away and one for freezing for later this week! Who would have thunk it?!? I made food for later! Yay me. I also went ahead and shredded up some sweet potato to use for this mornings breakfast and maybe sides for dinner tonight. I typically just brush off extra work and focus on dinner for the night and possible leftovers for lunch. It felt good this morning to know I had prepped those sweet potatoes. Especially since it’s Big Test Week for the kiddos, breakfast was a little easier to get done.

As always I typically get good sleep but I love the warmth of my bed and hate to drag myself out of it! I was ready for the BOOM Box WOD till I looked it up and saw two 800m runs! EEEKKK! I don’t like running if you didn’t catch on to that until now, well…. now you know!

3/27/12 WOD

Our skill strength was Barbell Rows 4 sets of 10. Not so bad. You lie on the ground. Reach up to the bar that’s racked lower. You pull yourself up chest to bar. So it’s like a reverse pushup. The last round finally got me. I did 5 and 5 cause I was tired! Heheh. In between each round we worked on Max L-Sits. There was the option of using the boxes which gives you height advantage but I opted to use the 45 lb plates only. My max was an AMAZING 11 seconds 😦 NOT GOOD but I kept trying. I pretty much dropped to an average of 8 seconds. Those are something I never think about but definitely need to work on.

The MetCon was 800m Run, 30 Handstand GetUps, 800m Run for time. Yay fun. I ran my first 800 in 4 minutes. Not bad I suppose but not great by any means! The Handstand GetUps are just getting into a handstand with control against the wall and coming down with control. I did those just fine. I think I just moved too slow in general. Like I forgot it was for time! I didn’t take a look at the clock when I took off for my run but my overall time was 11 minutes. I should have picked up the pace on the handstands but I was just cruising for some reason. Overall not bad until I see the board tomorrow! Hahaha… sometimes the rest of the day totally blows my times out of the water! Good motivation to step it up. It’s just hard at 5 am!

Tonight is the Championship Game for the Cubs… Should be fun πŸ™‚ Can’t wait. I got so excited I went out and bought all the boys Big League Chew! Hahah, I always want to be spirited and crafty but always at the last minute! Hehehe, I suck like that πŸ™‚ So I just made them little “hoorah” gifts for fun. I’m a nerd I know.

WTH was I thinking? PiZza?!?!?!

I will begin with my Paleo FAIL-EO first then bounce all around from that point! It all began Saturday after the Boom Beasts finished the 12.5 WOD. We all go to Texas Roadhouse for a celebratory CrossFit Games Open IS OVER lunch. I know Ernie and Coach are going to partake in badness and I truly thought I would hold strong.

That lasted 2 minutes maybe 3 minutes. As soon as HOT ROLLS hit the table I was out for the count. Kudos to Jess and Annette for holding strong! But that wasn’t the end of my indulgences. I went on to have pizza at BJs Brewhouse later that day.

And even later had chips and ranch dip as well… and er uhmmm cookies! I was indeed trying to put myself into a food induced coma. It was bad, all sorts of bad and it all left me with an upset stomach and took me out cold. It was like passing out from drinking too much. And let me tell you alcohol did cross our mind but we held back. Over a year of no booze, we didn’t cross that line! Besides having a stomach ache, I was extra bloated and heavy feeling even up till today. It’s not worth it people. I don’t know why I even tried. I thought I learned my lesson on Christmas, apparently I did not. Was it good? Ya it was good. Was it GREAT? Not really. Do I regret? At first I didn’t but today I really do. But I feel better getting it out there. It’s done, It’s over and it’s time to eat clean and start over!

Now that confession time is over I want to talk about Hunger Games. After days of deciding if I should take my 12 year old to the midnight premiere of Hunger Games I finally bit the bullet and bought the tickets. We arrived at 9pm to an already seated theater with all the good seat disappearing. Good thing we got there at 9 (thanks Ernie). I had planned on going at 10 and we would have had crappy seats. I’m not going to give a movie review because well I’m not a movie critic. I read the books and I thought the movie did the books justice. I’ve read and heard mixed reviews. If anyone thinks a movie can catch all the detail of a book they will surely always be disappointed. There’s not enough time to explain the details the book will have to offer. I thought they did great and I enjoyed every minute of the movie! Go watch it! But first read the books.

With me being an old maid and not getting home till 3am I wasn’t about to pretend to go to my 5 am workout or even go to work. So I took kids to school, came back home, and took a nap. I arranged to get my WOD in at 1pm which was GREAT! I wish I could hit up the box at 1 in the afternoon all the time. I forgot to take a picture of the board because I wasn’t in my normal routine. I just plain ol forgot. We weren’t putting our efforts on the board anyways so maybe that’s why I really forgot! Hehe. It was TABATA of craziness though. So we had to do 4 rounds of burpees. What does that mean? 20 seconds of burpees, 10 sec rest, 20 seconds on, 10 sec rest. Then we moved on to 4 rounds on the AIRDYNE bike. If you’ve never had the privilege of working on this little GEM of equipment let me tell you IT SUCKS! It burns, it hurts, I had not very nice names for the airdyne. And in the 2 minutes I had to endure it I barely burned 31 calories. That was the goal 30 calories in the 2 minutes. It sucked! We then moved onto ROWING… as if my body isn’t dead already. I missed out on the calorie mark we were supposed to hit till after I did my turn. I missed it by 1 calorie! I’ll take it in my extra calorie on the bike. And then it was onto to 4 rounds of DU’s. My first go was 28 and it was downhill from there. My legs had no bounce. So in our little 8 minutes of hell we got a lot of work in. It was good and hell I had the rest of the day off. Can’t really be complaining now can I? πŸ˜€

That evening it was baseball time for us. Two kids playing at the same time – Different fields. We had one team lose and the other team win to move on in the tournament. So instead of hitting my Saturday morning workouts I was at the baseball fields. Our first year hodge podge team pulled off a win and they now play in the championship game tomorrow night! WOOOHOOOO, GO CUBS! I have to boast a little bit about Justice as he held his composure Friday night and lasted 4 innings pitching allowing only 2 runs. It was awesomeness. I’m a proud mama for sure!

So with all the busy and all the bad eating that leaves me to today. MONDAY morning WOD at the BOOM BOX! Front Squat 1 RM and 5 rounds of 12 Deadlifts and 6 Front Squats with weight that is 50% of our Front Squat 1 RM. Make sense? I hope so!

3/26/12 WOD

If we’ve done a front squat max then I failed to record it and/or I have forgotten. So we started from scratch. Worked my way up to 135lbs. I failed at 140 and I feel that somewhere inside of me I may have been able to get that weight up I just sat at the bottom instead of exploding up. I didn’t try again as we get pressed for time, maybe with some oly shoes I would have pulled it off! Hehe, who knows. I truly do think I got to 135 due to the fact that I finally ordered STRENGTH WRAPS as suggested by a wonderful CrossFit buddy. Thanks Sally! THESE BAD BOYS are awesome and NOT ONCE did I feel pain in my wrists! I suggest if you have any wrist issues that you get some ASAP! I have yet to test them out with OHS or snatch but just helping in the front squat changed my world. I do really hope that they help in my other lifts. It’s such a simple idea using those wraps and makes a world of difference. LOVE THEM! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM!

Onto the MetCon. Using half the weight of our Front Squat seemed fairly doable. I have learned that it will never be easy but 70lbs at DL and front squat is doable, right? The catch was DON’T drop the bar or you owe 3 burpees right then and there. SO now added pressure! ARGH! Dropping the bar between lifts can’t happen, will I survive? WHY YES, YES I WILL! I didn’t drop that bar once! I held onto it even though I badly wanted to let go. By the 5th round noises were coming out of me that would scare babies and the elderly. But I finished, NO BURPEES – Time 5:11! It felt good to not have sore wrists and to finish strongly!

Post MetCon I worked on pull ups and DUs. I’m bound and determined to get that damn pull up! I will get it and I will get it soon.

Sigh of Relief – CrossFit Games Open is OVER!

I know I’ve said it plenty but I get anxiety ridden over these Open WODs! Seriously! I know I shouldn’t, I’m not anywhere near the ELITE status of the really competitive athletes. I’m just doing it to do it. Ya know? But week after week I let it get to me. The anticipation weasels it’s way into me and I turn into a loonball! Even when I know I can’t do the movements I’m a crazy person! But NOW it’s over for 2012 for me at least. Still praying and crossing fingers and toes for Sherry to make it in the top 20 of the Master’s Group!

12.5 came as a repeat form 2011. I really don’t care but it seemed to cause a stir amongst the mob. Why complain? Just beat what you did last year! Easy right? Heheh, I don’t know. I just know I can’t do a pull up so HOW IN THE WORLD am I going to get my chest to the bar? I’m not.

3/22/12 CrossFit Games Open 12.5

The WOD is a 7 minute AMRAP/Ladder of Thrusters and Chest to Bar. So first round is 3 thrusters, 3 chest to bars. 2nd round is 6 thrusters, 6 chest to bars…keep adding by 3s and do as many rounds as possible. Like good little soldier I knocked out my 3 reps of 65lb thrusters to get counted for the official score and went to band assisted chest to bar. I made it through to the 12 thrusters and only completed 5 of the chest to bar in that round. Final total of 53! Heheheh. Ah well. 7 minutes and WAM BAM thank you MA’AM! I was beat. Thrusters take a toll on you fast πŸ™‚ It was fun. And I’ll be there on Saturday to cheer on the remaining BOOM Beasts. Good riddance 2012 Open!!

On to getting that pull up mastered!

Rainy Gloomy Tuesday GO AWAY!!!!

I don’t mind the rain, I really don’t only WHEN it doesn’t cancel our baseball games, affect my drive to work or flood my house! So pretty much I like rain when I sleep or have nothing going on! Two days of games canceled, an extra 30 minutes in hellish traffic and well our house didn’t flood, but the water was creepin.

It’s nature, It’s LIFE, I know… we need the rain. And what a way to bring in spring. No more complaining about it. I just had to get it out of my system πŸ™‚

SO I was a blogging slacker yesterday and have a double dose of WOD’s to catch up on. Our weekend was fairly busy but nothing super interesting to shout about. I rested the whole weekend so I didn’t do a combo of bootcamp and CrossFit. I was having a hard enough time walking properly from what 12.4 did to me. So Monday rolled around and as always I kick off my week with a morning at the BOOM BOX. I seriously need new wrists. Is there a black market exchange program somewhere? We worked on OHS and although I feel I could do more weight, my wrists are on FIRE. I am ordering strength wraps so hopefully that will help. But HOLY COW it pisses me off so bad! It is what it is and I may never be the ELITE CrossFitter that I aspire to be but I’m gonna keep trying.

3/19/12 WOD

For our MetCon yesterday morning it was a 10 min AMRAP ladder of HR Push UPs and Air Squats. You progress by 2’s. So 2 push ups, 2 air squats, 4 pushups, 4 air squats and so on. I managed to complete 22 of each movement and get 4 pushups into the next round. That’s a lot of pushups and air squats!!! 268 total reps! I was wasted. But it was good. And 10 minutes felt like an eternity. Typically 10 minutes seems to fly by but not when you’re doing push ups!!

This Morning I checked out the CrossFit Boom site and saw that we’d be working on strict pullups, doing thrusters and running! Well it’s POURING so I know we aren’t running and couldn’t even begin to guess what would be substituted. Sure enough it was Double Unders! I was quite relieved because DU’s are something I can sorta do decently. But first STRICT PULLUPS! Well I CAN NOT do 1 pull up without band assistance so I know I suck already. But the idea was start off with what you feel comfortable with and do max reps. Then drop a band do max reps, drop down another band if you got it and so forth. Well I had a green and blue band combo and did 10 continuous reps. Then I had to drop to the green band. It’s a little thicker than the blue one. I did a WHOPPING 3 pullups with that. SO I dropped to blue band only and NOTHIN! I had NOTHIN. So I went back to Green Band and could bust out 3 more. I’m weak. It’s defeating. It doesn’t help that I haven’t worked on them outside of the box so I’m plenty at fault. I just wish pull ups were something that came easy to me. So from here on out, it’s my number 1 goal to achieve. I don’t know what a good timeline is so any suggestions would be great. 3 months? 6 months? I don’t know. But I will get a pull up sooner than later!!!! You have my word on that.

3/20/12 WOD

I shake off my defeat and get ready for the MetCon. RX’d is 4 ROUNDS of 15 65lb Thrusters and 50 DU’s. I can do 65lb Thrusters but 4 rounds of 15 is a little daunting. Coach suggests 55lbs and THANK GOODNESS he did because I was struggling. I meant to steal Ernie’s wrist support thingies but I forgot and I ran out of tape. So I had to bear through my wrist pain. I really really fought through and am happy I did because all though I wanted to die, I know I finished strong. DU’s are a little hard after thrusters! It takes a few second for your legs to realize you are trying to make them jump rope πŸ˜€ I finished much slower than I had originally anticipated but I found it hard to catch my breath today. So I paused a lot just trying to breathe! Final time: 14:27. Yay for Tuesday!

Legs Are Jello!

Happy EARLY St. Patrick's Day!

I know I’m a little late in getting my FRIDAY post out. To be honest I just wasn’t feeling the blogger in me. But she is kind of here right now, so I figured I’d get to it before I lose her.

Sooooo, my legs are wasted. BAD! I’m moving around like a super old lady. Slow rollin right now. Wall Balls killed my legs 😦 I wasn’t sure if my legs would even support me when I hopped out of bed this morning. WAIT HOPPED? Hell to the no…It was more of a fall out of bed and hope that my feet hit the ground first and the rest of me just follow.

I was not looking forward to the BOOM BOX at all. I nervously looked up the WOD and was saddened to see DEADLIFTS and DEATH by Kettle Bell Swing! Ah well, better get to it right? I’m glad I did go even though I was pretty worthless. I don’t think Coach would ever say that to my face but if I were him I would have been thinking it for sure. Everything about me was off today.

The skill/strength was a 3 @155lbs, 3 @ 160lbs and 3+ @165lbs. I managed to get 5 reps in for the last round. I could have probably got 1 or 2 more but my grip was KILLING ME. This grip issue did not help me out either when it came to the MetCon!!

DEATH BY KETTLE BELL SWINGS! It was 35lbs or 1 POOD if you want to be official. I typically can kill KB Swings. I feel very solid doing them. Today … NOT AT ALL! I was letting my chest fall forward, I didn’t have control at the top overhead, my feet wouldn’t stay planted to the ground… I WAS A HOT MESS! I was very defeated in the heat of the moment. I think I just had a good dose of fatigue and my brain wasn’t tough enough today. I’m just being extra hard on myself so no worries. I’m fine. I just know this morning was OFF. I only managed to get 14 minutes completed. Ah well. I’ll bring my A game next time, I PROMISE.

That’s pretty much it. I’m looking foward to the kick off of baseball season for my kiddos. The two that are playing have their first games at the EXACT same time! How not fun is that? At least the fields are next to each other but still!!! Also don’t forget to rock out your GREEN!!!! It’s St. Patty’s Day! Have a GREENILICIOUS weekend πŸ™‚ See y’all on Monday!!!

Separating the BEASTS from the GIRLBABIES aka ME!

And Welcome back to the CrossFit Open Games WOD review as done by yours truly. Don’t hold your breath here cause I’m just a WODSCALA at best but I’m still giving it a go. We are on week 4 of these miserable workouts and let me just say my jaw seriously dropped when 12.4 was released. DROPPED! 12 minute AMRAP of 150 Wall Balls, 90 Double Unders and 30 Muscle Ups! Really CrossFit HQ? REALLY?!? I thought for a split second it was a joke. But I do know better. I was just hoping not to die in 12 minutes. That was really my ultimate goal for the day. Don’t DIE in those 12 minutes!

Let me get things straight before I begin. To some of you, it’s old news but to anyone new I just want to be clear where I stand.

I HATE WALLBALLS! And I REALLY HATE the idea of 150 of those damn things in a row. I’ve never performed Karen (dirty ugly mean filthy girl) so I have no standard to compare myself. Just know I am not friends with Karen or any WOD that involves medicine balls being thrown to a target way above my head!

Also know I’ve only ever used a 10lb medicine ball.

And please note I am a GIRLBABY! Really.

As of last night I wasn’t entirely too sure if I would get to Double Unders but one has to have hope, right? I’m prepared for those at least and well if there was some slight chance I got through all of that we all know I was screwed when it came to Muscle Ups! So why in the sam hill am I killing myself. I have no idea. Just part of it. I’m hopelessly competitive and after today I really just need to focus on the day to day. It is ABOUT GETTING BETTER but it freakin sucks and I’m an impatient chicken!

This morning I’m rushing to the box because I overslept a few or 15 minutes and already dreading the doom that lies ahead at the BOOM BOX. I get a nice warm up, Get my hips stretched out as well. And it’s between Mel and I. She opts to go first which is really great because I just don’t want to go. I didn’t cheer/support her like I normally would have because there is a pit in my stomach. I mostly just pace, stay warm and pace. As I watch her I just know I’m not going to make it. I know mind set is a big part of it but it looked so miserable. She beared through it and did great and NOW it’s my turn. My stomach is literally in knots. My CrossFit Dreams are fading away. Timelines in my head are gone. It’s just me, the ball and the wall and I am not ready.

I eventually get some sort of plan in my head: go for 15, then 10’s then 5’s. But in reality it went 12, no rep, 5, 5, 1, no rep, 4, etc…Maybe not EXACTLY like that but pretty close, LOL. There was never more than 5 linked together after the first 12. I didn’t NO REP as much which was GREAT but I did go much slower – not by want but just by the fact that 14lbs gets heavy fast like. It was a pretty sad showing and I’m very glad there was no video proof. I literally was punching the stupid stupid ball out of anger. I do have witnesses but no actual proof thank goodness!


With all that said I completed 120 Wall Balls in 12 minutes. Boy I am horrible. I know I know… I did it. Whatever. I’m not feeling the warm fuzzies over this. I flat out was bad. Nothing is going to change my mind about that.

Moving on to My HERO, Sherry! She killed those Wall Balls and got 171 for her overall reps. She did amazing. We’ll just have to see how the rest of the Masters crowd does but she’s on the bubble for going to the GAMES. Fingers crossed, prayers being sent, etc. Hopefully 12.5 is something right up her alley and will boost her into the top 20!

Burpees Coach? Really?

I still have nightmares from 12.1 and here we are with a MetCon that involves burpees! Hehe, they were fine I guess, just being a baby as usual πŸ™‚

Whining aside, the MetCon was a quick doozie of a workout. 5 rounds of 5 Deadlifts @ 125lbs and 10 burpees. By the 3rd round of burpees I could feel my wind and energy zap right out of me. But I tried to keep up on pace and finished with 4:28. WOOO! Not so bad I suppose. I did rest a little too much on rounds 3, 4 and 5 of burpees. I thought to myself after the fact – shoot I just did 50 burpees in less than 5 minutes with DL in between…. why didn’t i DO BETTER on 12.1!!!??!!! Dang Burpees and the misery they bring!

3/13/12 WOD

Before our little beatdown we worked on Snatch Push Press. Anything snatch related brings me down. I suck at the Snatch as I have previously mentioned. Not only do I suck, it takes a toll on my wrists BAD! I managed to get 65lb reps but they were weak. My wrists were burning badly and I had a new issue arise…. Popping Shoulder or Popping something in my right should area. I’ve never had this rear it’s ugly head, but it’s not nice and it surely didn’t help me in the Snatch Push Press. Why you ask? Well getting the weight up is fine, it’s getting the weight back down that it hurts like a mofo. I have gotten my leg mobility down, now I need to focus on shoulders. It’s never ending isn’t it? Coach did show me how to better tape up my sad pathetic wrists. Hopefully next time around it will help me.

I also worked on some DUs. We are having a contest at the BOOM Box. Get 100 consecutive DUs, get a month FREE πŸ™‚ If more than 1 person gets 100 then it’s a DU off for the most in a row! Should be fun but the most I have put together is 49. But mostly I only get 14-20 strung together on average. I need to practice!

The Mondays

I have a bad case of it. It most likely stems from the fact it’s spring break and I have to be at work while my kiddos get a week off from school. They always ask if I get spring break too but every year I have to disappoint them and say NO I don’t get days off like that. I have to “earn” my vacation by weekly accrual. So that’s no fun. Traffic was light so that helps but I definitely have a bad case of the Mondays! So bad I didn’t even want to hit up the BOOM Box for my WOD, but Ernie reminded me “if you want to get better, you can’t skip”. TRUE STORY!

Unwillingly I drove myself to the box. I was much better after I got stretched and warmed up. But I wasn’t quite ready for the mile run that was slated for the day. I HATE RUNNING. All you regulars know this and what a way to start off the week. ARGH! Before we hit up running we did Front Squats Deload. That wasn’t so bad. Still killer on the wrists but we did 5 (60lbs), 5 (65lbs) and 5 (70lbs). It went by pretty quickly and I’m happy to report I didn’t have any aches, tightness, etc. holding me back. It was also a light load so who knows.

3/12/12 WOD

Time for the run came too quickly. And today I was slower than normal. I just wasn’t feeling it. I know we all have those days but I was still disappointed in my time considering I’ve been keeping a mile between 8:10 and 8:30 and this morning it was 8:49! WTH! Slokey Pokey. But at least it’s done for the day. And hopefully we don’t have to run for a while! Hehehe. I’ll never enjoy running. And the day I do, y’all know it will be some kind of serious voodoo magic that came over me!

Our weekend consisted of more CrossFit with the Saturday Funday at the BOX. WE seem to always do a team WOD which is always ends up being a good time. I’m not sure everyone else agrees with me in that it’s a good time. There’s just something deranged about me that I enjoy all the working out! We had to do 3 rounds of 400 m run, 42 KB swings and 24 pullups. It’s so much easier when you share the load of the workout between 3 people! Except we all had to run the 400m :/ BOOOO! Hehehe. We then stick around and cheer on the remaining BOOM BEASTS to take on The CrossFit Games Open WOD. We are already done with 12.3! Only 2 left! Everyone did great. I wish I was more BEASTLY already so I could be competitive amongst the ranks. Coach mentioned this morning…. 2 weeks until we’re done and ready to train for next year! Ha, I need 3 a days or even 4 a days to make that possible! Maybe I’ll finally win that lottery and I’ll make CrossFit my job!

That will just have to be a dream for now as I don’t see that coming to fruition anytime soon! Hopefully my Monday doesn’t drag on forever and I hope yours doesn’t either. Have a good one!

Fun Friday and TREATS!

So I half lied because not all of this morning was a “fun” Friday at the BOOM Box in regards to working out. Today my body was just exhausted and the COLD weather decided to remind us it’s not spring just yet!

3/9/12 WOD

Back Squats and TABATA were on the whiteboard menu today. I was all fine and dandy to take it all on but my damn IT BAND on my left leg which has been pretty quiet and pain free was being WONKY this morning. I blame it on the cold because I haven’t had any problems in a few months. So I couldn’t pull of the weights I need to with Back Squats. I was kind of sad because I know I’ve gotten stronger and today I felt so weak. In the MetCon we had to do jumping lunges and well I could only half ass do those as well. My left knee wasn’t gonna make it to the ground each time. I still worked and TABATAs are always a beating so have no fear, I still got a workout! We did a round of jumping lunges, a round of flutter kicks and the round that counted was DEFICIT Pushups. Both hands are on plates and you go down till your chest hits the ground before you come back up. NO FUN my friends, NO FUN AT ALL. My arms are DEAD from yesterday and now we have to kill them with pushups. I opted out of RX and went to my knees because I’m lame like that. I struggled with those as well 😦 We had to take the lowest amount we completed in the 8 ROUNDs that we completed! Come on NOW. How sucky! My count dropped, and dropped and dropped some more. So after starting out with 13 in 20 seconds, I finished with 8 in 20 seconds. Today was a WEAKSAUCE DAY. Hopefully tomorrow and next week are better πŸ™‚

Now for the FUN part of Friday! Today was Coach’s birthday so I decided to try out a new recipe that I found on Elana’s Pantry website. I test baked and tasted on Wednesday. My first round were a little overcooked. Not bad but not super great. Last nights batches were right on target! These are gluten free and paleo (well if you don’t eat dairy, don’t eat the whipped cream and if you do eat dairy it’s ORGANIC VALLEY so it’s good stuff).

I tripled the recipe for 2 dozen, YUMMO! Coconut Flour, Eggs, Agave, Celtic Sea Salt, Arrowroot Starch, Vanilla, Baking Soda and STRAWBERRIES!

I'm sure if you don't care for strawberries, any berry would do just fine πŸ™‚

Voila, Ready to go to the BOOM Box!

The recipe makes 8 cupcakes so I tripled the ingredients to get a whopping 2 dozen to share with the BOOM Box BEASTS! These are kid approved and NON HEALTHY/PALEO eating people approved! One of our 5am guys doesn’t eat anything remotely healthy (or so he claims) enjoyed them so it was great to see that he wanted a dozen for himself! They are tasty and quick to make. The only thing to me was they were more “muffiny” than cupcakey. Which is fine by me. I enjoyed them very much but I just want to be clear so if you make them you can let me know if you felt the same way or if I just plain ol suck at baking them.

Mine weren’t as BEAUTIFUL as hers are on her site but ah well. I’m a work in progress!

I also made (as suggested) Whipped Cream Frosting. I’m not much of a baker so I have never made my own whipped cream. AND I WISH I HAD KNOWN/LEARNED SOONER on how easy it is to make! To frost 8 cupcakes all you need is 2 TBS of Agave Nectar and 1/2 Cup of Heavy Whipping Cream! I used Organic Valley Heavy Whipping Cream. I’m new to this so to me it was amazing how simple and easy it is to make. You put it in a deep bowl and get a hand mixer and mix away until you get whipped cream. Voila! Done SON! I was quite happy. My kids noted it wasn’t necessary to add whip cream to the cupcakes, they were good as is. I was really surprised. They did like the whipped cream but that’s how great they are, they don’t need the added sweetness πŸ™‚
